Abu Dhabi Airports Employee nominated to represent UAE in Spartan Race World Championships

02 Oct 2017 , Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Abdulla Al Blooshi, Senior Manager Retail Concessions at Abu Dhabi Airports, is headed to Lake Tahoe in the USA, to take part in one of the world’s toughest endurance races.

Representing the UAE in the global Spartan Race World Championships, Abdulla will take part in the 21km “Beast” which includes 30-35 obstacles along the route. It promises to test endurance, strength and resolve, pushing competitors into their discomfort zone. `

“It will be a challenge, but I thrive on pushing myself physically in these kind of races,” commented Al Blooshi ahead of his departure from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

“I’ll be representing my country, and that’s all the motivation I need to get myself through this. I took part in the Spartan Race UAE when we held it in support of the Year of Giving at Al Ghazal Golf Club at Abu Dhabi Airport earlier this year, and I enjoyed every minute. My passion for racing was inspired by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his participation in a cycling event at Yas Marina circuit a few years ago where he addressed the community and said “… the important thing is that everyone is happy…” This is going to be tough as it’s the world championships, the conditions will be different, much colder, but I’m up for the challenge and hope to make the UAE and Abu Dhabi Airports proud!”

Abu Dhabi Airports hosted the community event, the “Giving Race” in March this year, and more than 2500 spectators turned out to watch the participants as they waded through mud, water, sand and jumped through fire. Money raised from the event was given to several charities including the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs and the Emirates Autism Center.
